In this Council of Adventist Pastors interview, Pr Jim Brackett and Pr Larry Kirkpatrick discuss the new NAD proposed approach to biblical interpretation which opens the way for women's ordination. The NAD's new "Principle-based, Historical-cultural" method is contrasted with the longstanding Seventh-day Adventist use of the Historical-grammatical method.

This is part one of two.

Prs. Wayne Kablanow and Jim Brackett discuss women's ordination. Is WO as we have seen its proponents attempting to introduce it to the church today, actually congregationalism just at a larger scale? Is letting each division decide independently in essence the same as letting each congregation decide independently? Kablanow and Brackett work their way into the topic carefully in this extended study. 33 minutes!

The message addressed to the church of Laodicea, those living in this final generation is applicable to every person professing the name and faith of Christ, but specifically this message pertains to Seventh-day Adventists. We can be certain that we are living in the final seconds of earth's history when Christ is about to spew unrepentant sinners out of His mouth because the abominations in Babylon have nearly reached their limit and the abominations in the various nations have just about exceeded their limits; and God's forbearance, so long exercised to mankind, will extend no longer. Just as in the days of Noah, when the state of society reached the point of utter recalcitrance to God's word and the lewd, abominable practices were almost widely accepted, promoted, and celebrated, probation closed and destruction ensued. It is clear that worldwide licentiousness--in its various forms- has become the norm, and God's word is clear that the nations will be spewed out as a result. While the nations are being spewed out, individuals who rise up against the straight testimony will also be spewed out. But in order to be preserved and ultimately saved, one needs to recognize his/her spiritual poverty and destitution and seek for the gold tried in the fire that is offered to them. This gold can only be obtained by making an exchange of our sins for Christ's righteousness. There must also be earnest effort by the pursuant and the trying of our faith which is intended to burn the dross of sin from our lives, leaving us perfect in Christ. Now is the time to receive this gold of faith while mercy still pleads for humanity!

Theology of Ordination (TOSC) committee member David Read discusses the question, Does culture drive biblical interpretation, in relation to the question of women's ordination. Considering first the broader culture, then the Adventist subculture, Read also discusses WO in connection with the immediately following issue---homosexuality and the church.

The involvement of Seventh-day institutions with ministers, teachers, books, and ideologies from Babylon is an ongoing trend that we need to be aware of, so that we can stay clear of these unlawful unions that tend to undermine faith in God's words; thus resulting in God withholding the dew and the rain, His holy Spirit and present-truth doctrines from His professed people.
Breaking News: "Auburn Christian groups hold ecumenical Lenten services"
Six churches -- St. Teresa of Avila, Auburn Presbyterian, Auburn Seventh-day Adventist, Bethlehem Lutheran, First Congregational and Pioneer United Methodist -- will conduct Lenten worship every Wednesday, starting March 5 and ending April 9.
Each group will host one day and will feature a guest pastor from a different church.
Pastor Dan Appel of Auburn Seventh-day Adventist said he believes that the collaboration among organizations will bring about good faith among Auburn Christians.
"I think the intent was to just give the people the opportunity to get acquainted with other pastors," Appel said. "So often, people hear the same speaker over and over again. This gives people the chance to get better acquainted. There is also an attempt to show that while we may have theological differences with each other, we still respect each other as followers of God."

"'I am much afraid that the universities will prove to be the great gates of hell, unless they diligently labor in explaining the Holy Scriptures, and engraving them in the hearts of youth. I advise no one to place his child where the Scriptures do not reign paramount. Every institution in which men are not unceasingly occupied with the word of God must become corrupt."-- Ibid., b. 6, ch. 3. {GC 140.5}
Many think that in order to obtain an education it is necessary to study the productions of writers who teach infidelity, because their works contain some bright gems of thought. But who was the originator of these gems of thought? It was God, and God alone. He is the source of all light. Why should we wade through the mass of error contained in the works of pagans and infidels, for the sake of a few intellectual truths, when all truth is at our command? {8T 306.1}
15c. "The mastermind in the confederacy of evil is ever working to keep out of sight the words of God, and to bring into view the opinions of men. He means that we shall not hear the voice of God, saying, "This is the way, walk ye in it." Isaiah 30:21. Through perverted educational processes he is doing his utmost to obscure heaven's light. {MH 439.1}

We are living in the time of the final shaking and sifting. Will you remain in the truth? or will you be sifted out? Like the rich young ruler, Seventh-day Adventists are rich and increased with goods and are in need of nothing, Revelation 3:17-20.
"The lover of self is a transgressor of the law. This Jesus desired to reveal to the young man, and He gave him a test that would make manifest the selfishness of his heart. He showed him the plague spot in his character. The young man desired no further enlightenment. He had cherished an idol in the soul; the world was his god." {COL 392.1}
"Through affliction God reveals to us the plague spots in our characters, that by His grace we may overcome our faults. {DA 301.1}
